About Safftyd

The Simon Agbotsu Foundation for the Young Disabled is a non-governmental organization that has been Empowering people with disabilities (PWDs), especially young boys and girls which is a holistic undertaking that involves influencing local services to inform, support, and enable PWDs to influence local decision-making processes, taking an active part in the services they receive. Having a voice and taking control of their lives is essential. We help persons with all types of disabilities achieve their maximum sustainable independence level by contributing, being responsible, and being equal participants in society. We support the programs that provide PWDs with skills offering platforms and work opportunities that could empower them to be more independent.

Simon Agbotsu Foundation for the Young Disabled (SAFFTYD) ensures that out-of-school children with disabilities are enrolled back in school and participate in sports activities to stay active and in good health.

We advocate for social services like proper education, health care, and user-friendly public infrastructure (e.g. transportation and buildings) for persons with disabilities, we also ensure that more persons with disabilities enter the workforce and contribute purely to society. Through civil education done in rallies and seminars, we inform and educate the public about multiple disabilities and how to live with persons with disabilities respectfully and overcome the many incidences of inequality and bias including negligence that PWDs face due to their various limitations.

Vision
The Simon Agbotsu Foundation for the Young Disabled is a non-profit organization that aims to end disability discrimination in Ghana and support young persons with disabilities in making a real difference in their future.
Aim
Our aims are based on personal experiences and the knowledge that a life-changing disability doesn’t need to limit your horizons. We know that disability is no barrier to a happy, productive life.

Education/Skill training

To be able to empower young persons with disabilities and also their caregivers through skill training and also educating the young brilliant but needy persons with disabilities.

Sports

Using sports as a tool in moving persons with disabilities from the streets, who depend on the benevolence of others in making a living and giving them hope through sports.

Objectives
as an NGO We focus on utilizing sports to advocate for various key areas, including education, health, and climate change. The organization recognizes the power of sports to bring about positive social change and inclusion for disabled individuals. Some of the key objectives of SAFFTYD are: • Empower the vulnerable in the community through education, capacity building, and skills training. • Mobilize and equitably distribute resources to the vulnerable in society to uplift their living standards. • Achieve equality and inclusion of vulnerable people in employment and social governance. • Advocate for the constitutional and health rights of the vulnerable in society. • To partner with a government agency in charge of disability affairs and other grassroots, national, and international organizations to ensure that persons with disabilities gain access to resources, services, and programs for their life improvement.

With love, compassion, and hard work, we can change the world for the better. Our small but growing team, led by Felix Agbotsu has one goal in mind.
